LUX APPOINTED HEAD OF ENTERTAINMENT FOR C4

CHANNEL 4 have appointed Danielle Lux as their new Head of Entertainment and Controller of E4, replacing Kevin Lygo who is leaving to become Director of Programmes for Channel 5.
Lux, currently Controller of Entertainment Commissioning at the BBC, will join Channel 4 in Autumn 2001.
Tim Gardam, Channel 4's Director of Programmes, said: "Danielle shares Channel 4's appetite for discovering and nurturing the next generation of comic talent. The range and quality of her previous commissions show that she has an intuitive feel for entertainment and she will continue to reinforce Channel 4's reputation for ground-breaking comedy and entertainment."
Lux added: "Having started my career at Channel 4, I'm thrilled to be going back. I have received enormous creative support from the BBC but I couldn't resist the opportunity to join the channel that produces some of the boldest entertainment in British television. The challenge of commissioning a new raft of entertainment programmes for Channel 4 and the prospect of working with such a wide range of talent, both on and off screen, is extremely exciting.”
Lux launched her television career at Channel 4 in 1989 as a researcher on a range of entertainment and factual programmes before moving to the BBC in 1990, later returning to Channel 4 to work on their irreverent cult programme ‘The Word’.
After returning to the BBC as series producer of ‘The Rough Guide to The World of Dance Energy’ she moved to Granada where she became Head of Young Entertainment and Children's Programmes in 1995. At Granada, Lux started the dating show ‘God's Gift’, the programme responsible for putting Davina McCall into the spotlight and the chat show ‘Pyjama Party’, with Katie Pulkrik. Her time at Granada resulted in a range of award-winning children's dramas and comedies. In 1998 Danielle rejoined the BBC as Head of Entertainment Features for the Independent Commissioning Group (ICG) and in July 2000 she was appointed Controller of Entertainment Commissioning.
She has been responsible for a broad range of series including: ‘The Weakest Link’, ‘Winning Lines’; ‘Robot Wars’; ‘Have I Got News For You’ and the ‘Royle Family’. Lux also launched ‘Jet Set Lenny Henry in Pieces’; ‘Alistair McGowan's Big Impression’ and ‘Marion and Geoff’. (CD)
