FAST SILVER ADDED AT ELECTRIC SKY

BRIGHTON based, Electric Sky, specialists in world-wide television and video programme distribution and co-production, have recently added a FAST silver system to their existing edit suites.
Electric Sky's focus is on British factual programming, documentaries, magazines and children's programmes. The silver system will be used for a mixture of shortform editing on promos for forthcoming features and longform editing on documentary programmes.
The first of these is a 50’ documentary for Channel 5 and The Discovery Channel that focuses on the phenomenon of violent sleep disorders and is due for transmission in July 2001.
The FAST silver will also be used to edit ‘Tales of the Living Dead’ a 13 x 26' series of archaeological whodunits produced by Electric Sky, Skaramoosh and National Geographic Channels World Wide. This series explores archaeological murder mysteries using forensic science to try to solve a crime. In these stories modern scientific techniques and experimentation - including forensic pathology, carbon dating, reproduction experimentation etc - are applied to human remains to try to resolve these spine-chilling ancient puzzles. Subtle reconstruction is also used to illustrate the story. Graphics flesh out what the victim looked like, how they might have died or attempt to build a picture of the contemporaneous environment in which the victim met their end.
Chief Executive David Pounds said: "For us the advantage of the silver system is the ability to achieve basic editing as well as uncompressed online work on the same system. This was an affordable alternative to the other uncompressed systems that we looked at. silver is versatile and our editors find it edit friendly as they are already experienced on Avid. We also liked the PrintDVD capabilities as this is now a popular medium for distribution". (GB)
