APT Launch New IP Audio Silver At IBC

APT, the audio codec specialists within the WorldCast Systems Group will launch the IP Audio Silver for cost-effective audio to IP conversion at this year's IBC Amsterdam.
The IP Audio Silver has been designed as an inexpensive unit for the delivery of broadcast-grade audio over IP networks and is ideally suited for Studio Transmitter Links in smaller radio stations or for large scale audio distribution requiring multiple units.
Kevin Campbell, Sales Director for APT, commented: "With the new IP Audio Silver, we are now able to offer broadcasters the audio quality and robust reliability that users expect from the APT codec range at a highly affordable price. Key broadcast platforms such as the WorldNet Oslo and WorldCast Equinox have become the industry-standard for many national and public broadcasters worldwide and enjoy an unrivalled reputation. Now, with the IP Audio Silver, we can offer the same low delay, broadcast-grade audio on a rock-solid platform to those broadcasters with more limited budgets."
While the IP Audio Silver may be a low-cost option, it does not compromise on the core features required by professional broadcast. Offering AES/EBU or analogue audio and the option of linear or compressed audio on professional XLR connectors, the IP Audio Silver maintains optimum audio quality.
Likewise, in terms of reliability, the unit is designed around a DSP-based architecture, avoiding the many problems associated with generic PC-based hardware. Optional redundant power supplies and the ability to playout audio from an integrated SD card slot in case of audio failure all work to ensure that a radio station can stay on air whatever the circumstances.
The unit's extensive functionality is neatly packed into a compact unit which occupies half the space of a 1U 19" rack. As such, the IP Audio Silver is available to purchase in wither a rugged compact case or rack mounted (two units will fit side-by-side on a 1U panel). Controlled via a web-browser or SNMP, the unit also offers optocoupled inputs and relay outputs for control or signalling alarms.
Campbell said: "We see excellent potential for the IP Audio Silver not only from within the broadcast market but also a variety of other applications such as retail audio, education and the hospitality sector. We are extremely excited to be showing the IP Audio Silver at our IBC stand and confident that the winning combination of APT's audio over IP expertise on this new more affordable platform will be one of the major attractions for radio broadcasters at this year's show.
The IP Audio Silver will be on display on the WorldCast Systems Stand 8.B58 from September 10 - 14.
