PICARDY CREATE CLYDE TOUCH SCREEN KIOSK

PICARDY Media Group have created an interactive touch screen kiosk for the new Glasgow Science Centre which allows young and old alike to take the plunge and embark on a virtual tour of the mysterious deep waters of the Clyde.
The program takes the user on a tour of the Clyde's many shipwrecks and provides them with the opportunity to dive in a mini sub - 'The Q1 Clyde Underwater Explorer' - and view the 3D reconstructed models of the wrecks close up.
The program contains re-constructed sequences of the sinking ships, featuring 3D animation, special effects, divers video footage and sonar images - a fully realised multimedia experience.
The Clyde Underwater Explorer exhibit will be among the first to feature in the new Science Mall and is only part of a continuing stream of work being carried out by Picardy's Digital Media department on behalf of the Glasgow Science Centre and the IMAX Theatre. Picardy are finalising an agreement with the GSC to become the preferred content provider for all future corporate events to be presented in the IMAX theatre.
Picardy's own 3D animator and special effects guru Neil MacKay, who created the stunning 3D computer generated opening title sequence for comedienne Elaine C Smith's last series earlier in the year worked on the Science Centre project.
Head of Digital Media at Picardy, Kenny MacKenzie said: "When Picardy were asked to get involved in this project, there was no doubt in my mind that the choice of subject matter and the knowledge and enthusiasm of the team from the GSC combined with the creativity and our specialist skills would result in a truly innovative and exiting exhibit. We are obviously very proud to be involved at this stage with the GSC and extremely pleased that this exhibit is one of the first of its kind to feature in this magnificent new building." (CD)
