Channel 4 extends longstanding relationship with Pro-Bel

Pro-Bel, the premier manufacturer and supplier of routing, signal processing, master control, automation and TFT display technology, has announced that major UK broadcaster Channel 4 has utilised Pro-Bel routing technology as part of a significant upgrade of its London facility.
When Channel 4 decided to construct a new control room for E4 - its highly regarded multi-platform entertainment channel - and for Film Four - its pay-TV-based film service - the company turned to Pro-Bel. The facility is designed to back up the main transmission path and form a standalone programme source matrix to guard against the unlikely event of failure. Channel 4 chose the popular Pro-Bel Freeway router installing SDI, AES and timecode versions of the product.
Rubert Luggar, Manager of Engineering Projects with Channel 4, explained: "These routers form a core part of the new control room for E4 and Film Four, which is now up and running. They have been installed in case of any problem with the main transmission path and provide us with a completely isolated means of switching if the need should arise."
Graham Pitman, Pro-Bel Group CEO, added: "In 2002, Channel 4 completed a major operations upgrade using Pro-Bel routing and router control technology. Last year, the broadcaster purchased two multi-level Freeway routers from us. This latest order reflects their ongoing confidence in our products and we are pleased to be able to satisfy their requirements."
