ABS announce IBC plans

Advanced Broadcast Services (ABS), a European leader in the provision of low-cost, full-service playout, transmission and broadcast facilities, will be at IBC to discuss the playout requirements of up-coming broadcasters looking for the most cost-effective and professional means to transmit their programmes.
ABS operates one of the first fully server-based, state-of-the-art playout centres in Europe. It uses Pinnacle's latest MediaStream servers and full automation technology in a particularly innovative configuration that allows it to deliver a lower cost structure with the highest levels of reliability and versatility. Channels being played out of the facility today are reaching a worldwide viewership of approximately 60 million households.
ABS has increased its broadcasting capacity with the opening of a second pod, adding another 15 channels. The new pod features the Pharos System 7 Automation system for playout control, which is ideal for interactive applications. It also gives channels a new level of control over their playlist compilation and on-screen look.
ABS has also developed the remote playout concept which allows a channel to take full control of its playlist, live from anywhere in the world. This means content can be ingested remotely and transferred over the Internet to the playout centre in London for final transmission. The international channels transmitting out of the UK can manage their content remotely and more specifically, sell commercials locally and get them to air within hours.
The company’s business focus is niche broadcasters and mainstream channels running secondary and sub-segmented brands, they are particularly popular with ethnic broadcasters and the multi-cultural business sector.
Sass Jahani, Managing Director of ABS, commented: “ABS has been involved in satellite TV for 15 years, designing and implementing bespoke installations internationally. We developed our playout operations centre following the advent of the Sky Digital platform, and now it is which is now supporting the needs of more than twenty TV channels. We are committed to professionalism in all that we do delivered by our team of fully qualified technical and operational personnel using state of the art equipment and facilities.
“Today, as a leader in the provision of broadcast playout I am proud to say that we can run up to 30 channels simultaneously for global transmission to some 60 million households worldwide.”
