Reidel to supply Danish national broadcaster

Riedel Communications has signed a contract to supply intercom equipment to Danmarks Radio (DR), the national broadcaster of Denmark.
DR is in the process of building new premises called DR BYEN, where all its Copenhagen-based activities, presently spread over 12 different locations, will be united in one completely new, fully digital multimedia facility.
Following an EU tender process, DR has chosen Riedel Communications GmbH to deliver a fully digital intercom system to cover the entire DR BYEN facility in cooperation with Danish distributor Interstage A/S. The system will be based on a large number of Riedel Artist M frames connected in a dual fibre ring, giving the highest possible level of redundancy and safety in all situations. The system will have fully integrated ISDN codec connections and wireless facilities.
Jorn Kinch Ingvardsen, Project Manager at Danmarks Radio, said: “The Riedel system and its de-central structure is ideal for our demands of high flexibility and security, and the daily users are very happy with the panel design and facilities. The graphical configuration software also makes advanced configurations and fast changes very easy.”
Construction of the DR BYEN buildings are underway, and deliveries of technical broadcast equipment will start beginning of 2005 with the new DR-BYEN scheduled to be fully functional in 2006 with a staff of around three thousand.
