EVS video servers expand Mexican TV Olympic coverage

EVS Broadcast Equipment has announced that Televisa, Mexico's top broadcaster, has recently expanded its video server infrastructure for coverage of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games.
Televisa has put in service two LSM-XT servers in combination with an AirBox-XT to produce a two-minute highlights of all the venues in Greece. This segment will be updated and broadcasted every hour in Mexico. It will allow Televisa to work in a tapeless environment and record up to eight events simultaneously on the servers.
AirBox-XT is a production and playout server with integrated Windows based nonlinear editing software. Clips can be incorporated in playlists with straightforward "drag and drop" commands. Playlists may include mix & wipe effects and searching is facilitated by a convenient jog remote. Key actions from a live event can be gathered into a highlights package that can be aired in loop mode continuously. The editing functions remain available during this allowing updating without ever interrupting the ongoing broadcast.
EVS Broadcast Equipment' sales manager for Latin America Benjamin Mariage said: "After having successfully worked with the LSM servers in their remote control units, Televisa has now decided to rely on the EVS technology in their studio to manage the hourly highlights. The two XT servers combined with the AirBox application will give them a new opportunity to work in a tapeless environment"
The LSM-XT servers will be installed after the Olympics in two of Televisa's digital remote control units dedicated to cover the Mexican soccer championship. Each LSM can offer instant replays in slow motion of four synchronized cameras. At the same time, Televisa is also equipping its High Definition mobile unit with its first HD LSM-XT server.
