RTÉ announces revamp of Network 2

RTÉ Television is to revamp its second public service broadcasting channel, RTÉ Network 2.
The revamping process will cover the channel name, look, presentation, content and schedule of the channel. It will be implemented on a phased basis. The first phase will be on air in early October. Phase 2 will be implemented in January 2005 and the third phase in October 2005.
The decision to revamp the channel was taken last year, and a group, led by the newly-appointed Assistant Director of Programmes, Television, Mary Curtis, and Andrew Fitzpatrick, Head of Scheduling, has been focused on its revamp over the past six months.
Noel Curran, Managing Director, Television said: "Refreshing the schedule and the look of a channel is a constant requirement in broadcasting. We're confident that our viewers, advertisers and key stakeholders will enjoy the changes as we implement them over the next year."
The first phase, on air in October, will see the channel re-named as RTÉ Two. There will be a new look, idents and graphic treatment of the channel.
