Subvision creates hot new promo for Mirima

Burning forests, flaming flowers and skyscrapers erupting from the ground are just some of the effects created by Subvision for the music video of Bristol band Mirima.
The promo, directed by Subvision’s Stefan Wernik, is for the groups debut single ‘Step Back From The Fire’.
In the video the band create an idyllic setting for their music by drawing in the air with fire, the blazing trails forming a garden environment that comes to life. But their peace is soon shattered as the fire spreads creating an ominous burning city that grows around them and has to be destroyed to regain control.
The video is a mixture of live action and animation with Peter Sorg the Director of Photography on the green screen shoot. Due to time constraints the filming threw up a couple of interesting challenges for Subvision’s compositor Jarema Wernik. The band had to shoot their performances separately, the four members only playing together as a group when composited digitally in the final video. The shoot did not allow for motion control so all the camera moves in the video were produced in postproduction. The environments were created in CG using 3D Studio Max with the compositing produced in Digital Fusion.
