The Machine Room lands Fish

The Machine Room has lured Richard Fish from Ascent Media to head up business development for its restoration, film mastering, high definition and duplication businesses.
Fish’s remit will be to attract more clients and big name projects to The Machine Room’s growing HD and film restoration markets.
Most recently Fish spent two years developing business for Ascent Media in the archive, telecine, HD and feature film markets, where he won new contracts for the whole Ascent Group. Prior to that he was account manager for Ascent’s video mastering department, and helped in this area by bringing in several high-profile clients.
Before Ascent Media, Fish spent one year at BBC Worldwide in the programme operations department. He started off his career at West One Television, where for four years he was account manager for the company’s video mastering department, dealing with Paramount, Universal and Buena Vista.
Fish said: “The Machine Room has an unrivalled reputation for technical expertise in the restoration and HD markets. Its Film Treatment Centre is a unique resource in London, and together with the recent kit purchases they’ve made on the digital side, they now cover every restoration need - from traditional optical to digital video restoration. I want to contribute to the company’s existing reputation as a boutique centre of excellence for archive and feature film restorations across SD and HD.”
Managing Director of The Machine Room, Danny Whybrow, added: “Richard brings a great contact list and a vast amount of experience in the mastering, HD, telecine and restoration areas. This will be invaluable as we look to introduce more high-profile clients to our company.”
