OPENTV TO SHOWCASE TV PORTFOLIO AT IBC 2001
OPENTV, ONE of the world's leading interactive television and media solutions company, will be showcasing their advanced interactive TV portfolio at IBC 2001.
Live feeds from leading European operators including BSkyB in the UK, TPS in France, Viadigital in Spain, F.U.N. in Germany and Viasat in Scandinavia will be used to demonstrate OpenTV's cutting-edge content and applications capabilities.
OpenTV will also be focusing on products designed to assist operators with their efforts to establish new revenue streams through Internet and tv-commerce services.
OpenTV will be showing a range of their key technologies for broadband interactive TV, including: Device Mosaic, a standards-based, HTML player that enables HTML-based authoring of iTV applications and Internet on TV; OpenTV Publisher, which enables network operators to make efficient use of XML technology to publish iTV content; The Service Platform Suite, which offers a complete platform for managing the operational and transaction demands of tv-commerce, and offers a range of other functions including email, chat and Short Messaging Service (SMS) to mobile phones. OpenTV's Personal Video Recorder (PVR) capability, which gives TV viewers the ability to pause live TV and record favourite TV programmes without the use of videotape; The Multimedia Home Platform (MHP) 1.01 extension to OpenTV's core platform technology, developed in partnership with Panasonic (Matsushita). The MHP standard is designed to enable any MHP compliant digital interactive application, whether developed using OpenTV tools or any third party middleware, to operate across set-top boxes and television networks.
James Ackerman, CEO at OpenTV said: "The IBC Show gives us an ideal opportunity to showcase our efforts to help network operators increase revenues, reduce churn and deliver compelling new services. With 45 broadcast networks already having selected our technology, our leadership is well established. Our presence at IBC will demonstrate how we will be looking to help our partners continue to innovate while supporting independent content and application developers.” (CD)
