PEARSON TELEVISION REBRAND AS FREMANTLEMEDIA
PEARSON TELEVISION, one of the largest international production and distribution companies in the world, are to be rebranded as FremantleMedia, with immediate effect.
The rebranding comes as a result of Pearson Television's merger with CLT-UFA to form the RTL Group last year, following which the company is no longer a wholly owned subsidiary of Pearson plc.
All divisions of the company will be rebranded, encompassing Worldwide Production, Pearson Television North America, and Pearson Television International and Enterprises.
FremantleMedia's senior management team worked closely with leading brand consultants, Lambie-Nairn to develop the name.
Tony Cohen, Chief Executive of FremantleMedia, said: "We believe that the name FremantleMedia, like Pearson Television before it, will become synonymous with some of the best entertainment and drama programme brands in the world, and increasingly with innovation in areas such as the Internet and interactive television. The rebranding of the company was necessary following the formation of the RTL Group, but the nature and focus of our business remain unchanged."
Having completed the first phase of the rebranding process, with the launch of the new company name, FremantleMedia will now work with Lambie-Nairn on developing the visual identity of the brand.
The next phase of the re-branding process is scheduled for completion in advance of MIPCOM 2001, the major international television market, which takes place in Cannes in October. (CD)
