SMPTE to present editing showcase

The New York Section of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers will present an Editing Showcase on Tuesday, June 15 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
The event is open to the public and admission is free. The table-top style demonstrations by the industry's leading editing systems manufacturers will run in two sessions between 2pm and 9pm to accommodate busy visitors' varied schedules.
"We are excited," said Ray Blumenthal, chair of the SMPTE NY Section, "to be able to provide area professionals, many of whom might not have gone to NAB, with an opportunity to learn about the latest versions of the most popular audio and video editing systems."
SMPTE expects that there will be large attendance by the region's freelance editing and production community, broadcasters, institutional equipment users and students from local film and television courses.
The event is co-sponsored by the New York Chapter of the Audio Engineering Society and there will be a number of audio-related editing exhibits, such as DAWs, included in the exhibit areas and in adjacent suites on the same floor of the hotel.
