Network Electronics expert to speak at SMPTE New York

Ronny Sletteng, Senior Specialist Optical Systems for Network Electronics, will be a featured speaker at SMPTE New York's October 16 conference, titled "Optical Fibre Modules For Constructing Television Systems".
Sletteng is one of four speakers chosen for their expertise in the area of fibre optics. The focus of the program will be the use of optical modules to address signal transport requirements as well as analogue/digital video and audio transport of bi-directional data signals by way of Ethernet, RS-422, RS232, T1, and DS-3. The speakers will also discuss the use of redundancy for reliability and optical multiplexing for efficient fibre utilization diagnostics, in-service monitoring and set-up. A question and answer period moderated by Paul Berger of CBS will follow the presentations.
Sletteng will discuss optical multiplexing in its various flavours, system architecture, reliability, system monitoring and optical components for different applications.
Based in Network Electronics' headquarters in Norway, Sletteng serves as a Research & Development Engineer specializing in Wavelength Division Multiplexing systems, optical distribution and optical switching modules. A recipient of a MSc. degree in applied physics where he specialized in fibre optics, Sletteng also instructs fibre optic training courses and has authored numerous articles on optical communication.
