Continued success at Audio Engineering
The success of the highly cost-effective Micron Explorer series of wireless microphone systems continues to grow, reports the UK manufacturer Audio Engineering, with many long-term broadcast users of the company's Micron 700 Series recognising the benefits of interworking the two product ranges.
The inherent compatibility between the Explorer and 700 Series transmitters and receivers is enabling greater operational flexibility, while also making budgets go further and hire company inventory work harder. Although the Micron 700 Series offers a far wider range of products - with single, dual and multi-channel systems for location sound, as well as for studio installations - the Explorer products are proving particularly useful for creating economical mixer-to-camera wireless links. Both systems are switchable across 100 channels, and utilise compatible noise-reduction and limiter circuitry, making it perfectly practical to mix and match the products. The 700 Series' miniature receiver, the SDR770, offers full diversity reception for when circumstances so dictate - such as extremes of range or difficult RF environments. However, the RF stability of the Explorer receiver is proving remarkably robust, and more than sufficient to cope with most day-to-day conditions. For multi-channel applications, the SDR770 can be used in dual- and four-channel configurations - with portable, mobile and studio options. These configurations also allow the individual receivers to be removed quickly for independent use, achieving further inventory flexibility for a hire company or broadcaster.
