Audio Engineering expand Micron Explorer range

The range of radio microphone options in Audio Engineering's Micron Explorer series continues to grow.
With the highly cost-effective Micron Explorer 100 series now well established, and in use around the world by sound recordists, ENG crews and major broadcasters, Audio Engineering has announced two new models. Aimed particularly at sound recordists working in film and television drama, and launched as a transmitter and diversity receiver pair, the products introduce a number of additional facilities, while reflecting the economical price points of the rest of the Explorer range. The Explorer TX700B Belt Pack Transmitter is housed in a tough, one-piece extruded aluminium case, just 69mm long, making it one of most compact products of its type available. Within this diminutive form factor, the TX700B offers the choice of up to 256 frequencies across a 32MHz bandwidth, dedicated phase select and on-off switching, together with the facility for transmitting a low-battery warning signal to the matching Explorer SDR550 Small Diversity Receiver. When transmitted, this completely inaudible signal is indicated on the SDR550 receiver by means of a LED. Changing the batteries - buy-them-anywhere alkaline cells - is as straightforward as on the rest of the Explorer range, with the unique design of captive battery cover ensuring this task can even be accomplished in the dark. The Explorer TX700B and SDR550 sets are supplied complete with audio output cables and choice of lavalier microphone.
