Charles Dance’s directorial debut ‘Ladies in Lavender', starring Dame Maggie Smith and Dame Judi Dench, is just one of this year’s major British films to be shown at the first London UK Film Focus, which will run from June 30 – July 2.
Over 25 British feature films are screening at the three-day UK event, including the eagerly awaited ‘Dead Man’s Shoes’, the new feature from acclaimed British director, Shane Meadows, Andrew Goth’s horror film ‘Cold and Dark’, starring Luke Goss, ‘Trainspotting’ director Danny Boyle’s new movie, ‘Millions’ and the controversial football hooligan film, ‘The Football Factory’.
The London UK Film Focus will showcase these and other exciting new British feature films to key international buyers and distributors.
Industry premieres and events hosted at the London UK Film Focus will include: the gala premier of ‘Ladies in Lavender’ on June 29 and a ‘Best of British’ night, hosted by the British Film Institute, which will host a gala premiere of a new British title at the National Film Theatre.
Over a hundred global film buyers are already confirmed to attend this premier UK event, which will take place at the BFI’s National Film Theatre (NFT) on London’s South Bank.
John Woodward, Chief Executive Officer of the UK Film Council, said: “This important initiative brings buyers from around the world to London and shows them new British films and talent.”
