Glasgow man wins award at JVC Film Festival
David Sandreuter has been awarded an Excellence Award in the 26th JVC Tokyo Video Festival for his film, ‘Little Big Head’.
Mr Sandreuter collected a cheque for the equivalent of 100,000 yen, along with an award certificate and plaque at the Glasgow Camcorder Centre on Great Western Road, Glasgow.
David, who lived in Glasgow when he entered the contest, has now moved to Denmark, but he recently returned to Scotland to collect his prize.
David entered the competition as a member of Cineworks, Scotland’s entry level short film scheme. Cineworks commissions five films each year in the fields of drama, documentary and animation with budgets of between £10,000 and £15,000. Cineworks is a Glasgow Media Centre initiative, in association with Edinburgh Mediabase and is funded by Scottish Screen, BBC Scotland and the UK Film Council.
The 2004 JVC Tokyo Video Festival attracted a total of 2881 works from 36 countries and regions from all over the world and David’s film was selected as one of 30 to be awarded the prestigious Excellence Award.
The festival is an annual event, organised to promote the creation of content that explores the vast potential of video. The event allows artists to explore their creative talents and submit their entries to compete with fellow film enthusiasts from all over the world.
Based on the concept of a home video festival in which a large number of people can participate, the Tokyo Video Festival (TVF) aims to enhance video culture through promoting the creation of content and enlarging screening opportunities.
For the last quarter century, more than 37,000 home video works have been submitted.
The winners of the festival were announced at the Ebisu Garden Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
