Freeview Play Upgrades Viewing Experience
Viewers of Freeview Play can enjoy an upgraded viewing experience from today onwards, after the latest update to its Explore Freeview Play TV app.
The update brings new recommendation genres, and a new dedicated Box Sets area to make it easier for viewers to get the most out of Freeview’s on demand content library.
Alongside over 80 live TV channels, Freeview Play is home to over 40,000 hours of on demand content and 10 on demand players including BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, My5, UKTV Play, CBS Catchup Channels UK, Legend, POP Player, BBC Sounds, and STV Player.
With all this content available for free, deciding what to watch is no simple task. Explore Freeview Play makes this easier with its Search and Recommendation tools.
Viewers can sit back and relax whilst scrolling through a carousel of Freeview’s hand-picked recommendations from across its player line up; existing genres include Comedy, Drama & Soaps, Entertainment, Factual, Food Entertainment, Factual, Movies, and Lifestyle.
The latest update brings new recommendation genres including Food, Music and Arts, Science & Nature, and History. Alongside this, viewers can visit the new dedicated Box Sets area, to browse the wealth of Freeview Play’s bingeworthy series.
Viewers will also be able to curate their own watch lists via the new My Shows feature.
The update also brings a brand-new look, including a dark background, and larger imagery to better showcase the content available.
Viewers can find Explore Freeview Play on Channel 100 on their Freeview Play TVs.
Freeview Play is built into most new TVs in the UK. Since launching in 2015, the platform has seen impressive growth, and now has over 11 million regular users.
Owen Jenkinson from Freeview Play commented: "We are continually evolving and adding new free features so we can provide excellent value to consumers. With the Love Island final just days away, millions of us will soon be searching for our next TV obsession and these latest updates to Freeview Play will be on hand to help."
