SCOTTISH AND GRAMPIAN TO PROVIDE DIGITAL TRAINING
AFTER the success of last year’s inaugural New Found Land Digital Training Day, Scottish TV and Grampian TV have decided to come together once again to provide a unique opportunity to explore the world of digital television.
The event will take place at Scottish TV studios in Glasgow, on November 17, 2001.
The purpose of the event is to inform and encourage those who are interested in pursuing a career in digital broadcasting, providing access to experts in different fields of television and looking ahead to new technologies.
Sandy Ross Managing Director of Scottish TV said: “Last year six production teams worked on six films produced entirely in the digital domain and one hundred and fifty people attended the training day and were introduced to the concept of digital television production. They viewed the films and heard from the producers, directors and technicians about the problems and benefits of digital production. Two of the films that were made, went on to win BAFTA and RTS awards. The scheme was hugely successful and that is why we will be doing it again this year. The next Bill Forsyth, Danny Boyle or Ewan McGregor will come from a scheme like this and it is important that companies like Scottish and Grampian Television support them.”
The day is made up of screenings of the winners of this year’s New Found Land competition (short film competition funded by Scottish/GrampianTV and Scottish Screen) as well as demonstrations of new equipment and discussions.
To request a place at the NFL Digital Training Day and to receive further information email: [email protected] or fax 0141 300 3359. (CD)
