'Gossip Girl' Reboot Finds UK Home

The reboot of popular teen drama 'Gossip Girl' has found a home with the BBC in the UK.

Set to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer later in 2021, the show will explore how much social media - and the landscape of New York itself - has changed in the intervening years since the original series. Based on the bestselling novels by Cecily von Ziegesar and the original show, viewers will be introduced to social surveillance nine years after the original blogger's website went dark.

Along with the rights for the new show, UK fans will also now be able to dive into the boxset of all six series of the original 'Gossip Girl' (2007-2012) via BBC iPlayer.

The new series is being developed by showrunner Joshua Safran, a writer and executive producer on the original series, and stars Jordan Alexander, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Tavi Gevinson, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Zion Moreno, Whitney Peak and Savannah Lee Smith.
