MPC installs two Truelight systems
The Moving Picture Company (MPC) has installed two FilmLight Truelight colour calibration systems for use with its Quantel IQ colour grading suites.
MPC originally evaluated one Truelight system on Michael Winterbottom’s ‘Code 46’ and decided to purchase this and install a second system to calibrate the company’s two film grading suites.
Truelight is the only complete film colour management system for pre-visualising film images on electronic display devices. This saves unnecessary matching, rework, time and effort allowing artists, colourists, supervisors and directors to check the final film grade at any point in the digital post-production process.
MPC, which is currently working on a number of feature films including Danny Boyle’s ‘Millions’ and Edgar Wright’s ‘Shaun of the Dead’ chose the Truelight for a number of reasons as Martin Parsons, Senior Engineer, Digital Film explained: “When working within the digital film lab environment, operators have much more interaction with the shots than ever before and therefore it is important to have colour fidelity throughout the process. After evaluating other products, Truelight was the only system that could offer complete colour management through the grading process and up to the final output thanks to its 3-D colour cubes. By having the facility for this important technique in the process, as well as the highly experienced service and support that FilmLight offer, means that it is the only system that we want to use for our high profile projects and clients.”
