Screen Producers Ireland appoint Director
Screen Producers Ireland (SPI) has appointed Mr Malcolm Byrne as its new Director.
Mr Byrne, who was previously the Chief Executive of the ESB Community Games, will take up office on March 15 2004.
Mr Byrne is from Gorey, Co Wexford, and previously held the positions of Press and Research Officer at the Chambers of Commerce of Ireland and Commercial Manager with Myhome.ie, the property website. He is a Civil Law graduate of UCD and has broad experience of working with member and voluntary based organisations.
Mr Byrne is a Member of the National Economic and Social Forum, a former Vice President of the National Youth Council of Ireland and a member of the National Council for Education Awards and has held membership of a number of national committees, including the National Youth Work Advisory Committee and the Youth & Disability sub-committee of the European Year of People with Disabilities.
Commenting on the announcement Ms. Joan Egan, Chairperson of Screen Producers Ireland, remarked that she was delighted to welcome Mr Byrne to oversee SPI operations and policy implementation.
She said: "Mr Byrne comes to us with a sound experience of working in organisations where policy work has been pivotal to their success. He has a track record of strong management capabilities and of dealing with member-based organisations. He will add immensely to our collective experience and will lead our team with a common purpose of creating a better environment to progress the objectives of our organisation."
