Quantel release Version2 for generationQ

Quantel has unveiled Version2 of generationQ – a platform-wide upgrade for all generationQ systems that adds many new tools and capabilities and promises to take teamworking and connectivity to a new level.
The stunning array of new tools and capabilities includes the world’s first multi-view compositor, combining blender, camera, schematic process and DVE axis views; unlimited layer compositing with unlimited processes on every layer; embedded plug-ins; and direct access custom transitions in the editor. Together they enable users to complete jobs faster and more creatively, and significantly expand the range of work that can be undertaken on generationQ systems.
Teamworking and connectivity gains with Version2 include background push/pull media exchange and browse between systems; Windows Media 9 and QuickTime background I/O for fast creation of client review versions; a QXMLnet scriptable interface for third-party system connectivity; and settings-only archive for instant transfer of set-ups between systems. These all add up to a cost-effective, creative and flexible post or graphics environment that makes optimum use of every connected system’s capabilities.
Version2 also offers notable performance gains that translate into real productivity advances. An iQ system running Version2 on the latest hardware, for example, shows processing performance improvements of between 75 and 250% compared with the previous version – a massive boost for productivity to what is already the most powerful media engine on the planet.
“Version2 is what generationQ was built for,” said Quantel Marketing Director, Nigel Turner. “It exploits the full power of generationQ technology to create an environment that combines superb effects capability with the best editor in the business, and allows post houses to create a workflow that is both highly efficient and extremely creative. Version2 will appeal at all levels of the market. There’s also a huge and loyal user base of Hal, Henry and Editbox artists out there who’ve been waiting for this. Version2 for generationQ offers them a similar huge leap over existing technology that will get them way ahead of a marketplace that’s becoming ever more commoditised.”
Version2 for generationQ is shipping now and is available to all iQ, eQ, gQ, QEdit Pro, QPaintbox Pro, QEffects and QPaintbox users. Upgrades will begin to be rolled out to customers from their local Quantel offices over the coming weeks.
