HIGH PROFILE GUESTS TO ATTEND FOYLE FILM FESTIVAL

HIGH profile directors, writers, artists, animators and special effects experts will converge at the 14th Budweiser Foyle Film Festival from 9-18 November.
Some will introduce their films, some will discuss their work, what inspires them and the struggles they have overcome to produce the high calibre work for which they are known.
Highly esteemed local TV producer/presenter Joe Mahon will introduce Neil Jordan on November 10 at 3.30pm to inevitable crowds at the Nerve centre. Jordan will take questions from the floor in what is a unique opportunity for local people to hear about the work of Ireland's most famous and respected film director. World famous for blockbusters such as 'Interview with a Vampire', 'Michael Collins' and 'The End of the
Affair', Jordan is revered in Ireland for his debut thriller 'Angel' and 1992's 'The Crying Game', which earned him an Oscar for best screenplay.
Soon to be released '24 Hour Party People' tells the story of the rise and fall of notorious 80's Manchester nightclub, The Hacienda. The film features Steve Coogan and all the recently reassembled members of the band New Order. The man responsible for the script, Frank Cottrell-Boyce will be in Derry to introduce the screening of one of his other projects, 'Pandaemonium' on Sunday November 11 at the Strand multiplex.
Other screen-writing credits include 'Hilary and Jackie', 'Welcome to Sarajevo', 'New York Crossing' and 'Butterfly Kiss'. Cottrell-Boyce began his career as a writer on the popular soaps, ‘Brookside’ and ‘Coronation Street’ and has also written for 'Living Marxism' magazine and received a BAFTA nomination for 'Strangers,' a sixty minute children's film for Thames TV.
Oscar nominated Director, Jimmy T Murakami will be animating the people when he visits the festival to talk about his work. One of the most respected animators in the industry, Murakami’s most famous credits include 'The Snowman' and 'When The Wind Blows'. His most eagerly awaited recent project is the animation of the much loved and familiar story 'A Christmas Carol', which will feature the voices of, among many famous others, Kate Winslett and Nicholas Cage.
With workshops priced at a nominal charge of £2, the festival offers an unrivalled opportunity to find out a little bit more about everyone's favourite industry, from the experts.
For more information on the festival visit their website at www.foylefilmfestival.com or pick up a programme around at the Nerve centre, Waterside Theatre, Millennium Forum or the Strand multiplex. (CD)
