RECENT CONTRACTS FOR GAELIC BROADCASTING
IN THE four months up to October 31 2001 the Gaelic Broadcasting Committee signed new production agreements for 14 hours of programming worth £511,253 with Scottish broadcasters and independent producers.
The largest share of the funding was allocated to the independent sector, reflecting the Committee's on-going commitment to independent producers.
The distribution of contracts was as follows:
BBC Scotland: £178,621 (a new education programme)
Media nan Eilean: £194,967 (two 60-minute documentaries)
Kenyon Communications: £80,000 (six-part documentary series)
TGSC: £57,665 (six-part interview series)
During the same four-month period the Committee issued almost £2.5 million in production grants for the above programmes and others that had been previously contracted.
