STATIC APPOINT GILLMAN AS PRESIDENT

STATIC 2358 (Static), the television and media business based in London, have announced the appointment of Joan Gillman as President of their worldwide operations.
Static, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Open TV, will focus on further expanding their presence as a global media business as well as achieving significant revenue growth under the leadership of Gillman, who will report in to CEO Jasper Smith.
The company have placed a firm emphasis on creating new brands and formats for digital television in addition to increasing distribution and operational efficiency of their existing channel properties, including PlayJam TM, the world's biggest interactive entertainment channel, during 2002.
Based in the Static office in New York, Gillman will assume full P&L responsibility, with all commercial, operations and channel teams reporting in to her. Gillman was formerly Director of Business Development for British Interactive Broadcasting (BIB), the joint venture that launched and ran the Open interactive service on Sky digital in the UK. There she was responsible for the creation and leadership of business units dedicated to the development and implementation of new business, product development, marketing and sales strategies. Following the complete takeover of BIB by major shareholder BSkyB, Gillman played a key role in the integration of the business into BSkyB positions at companies including UpMyStreet, Edison Interactive and Physicians' Online. Gillman joined the business world from a political career spanning ten years in which she held State Director and Legislative Director positions under Senator Christopher J Dodd. (CD)
