Midlands filmmakers' work receives television debut

Four novice filmmakers are to have their work screened on television in January February.
Three of the filmmakers, from Birmingham, Herefordshire and Wolverhampton, will see their 10 minutes factual programmes, aired on ITV1 Central at 11.30 pm on January 29, while the final West Midlands film from Leamington Spa will be aired on February 5 at 11.30pm.
The films were chosen from 45 applications and each director and producer received mentoring and training support to help them develop and learn their craft.
The work was produced as part of a short film scheme, First Cut, designed to explore bold new approaches to factual based programming such as documentaries, is run by Screen West Midlands and ITV1 Central. The First Cut filmmaking scheme. The scheme is run by Screen West Midlands, the regional agency for film, television, games, animation and digital media. Every year it collaborates with ITV1 Central to find the next generation of passionate programme makers with original, regional stories to tell.
Application packs are available from www.screenwm.co.uk , and applications are welcomed from Birmingham and The Black Country, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
