NOA To Unveil Latest Developments At IBC
NOA GmbH is to unveil a host of new products and solutions at IBC2018 in Amsterdam, 13-18 September.
The AV digitising and archiving specialist will put a large emphasis on optimisation, streamlining and quality control of its entire workflow.
"After gaining experience from our several projects, NOA has developed a more refined workflow engine able to handle the complexity of industrial digitisation," said Christophe Kummer, managing partner of NOA. "We have managed to bring optimisation into play not only on the ingest level but for the entire archiving process, thus considerably reducing carrier handling time and also, as a consequence, overall operational expenses, while still maintaining omnipresent quality assurance for to be archived media."
Products at IBC2018
The NOA mediARC solution is a new Archive Asset Management (AAM) approach following OAIS recommendations, which call for the separation of user and production management domains and the separation of content on its original media format from its digital representation within the archival storage. OAIS advocates the use of one lossless format, which needs to be able to support all present and future business procedures between legacy archive and production workflows. NOA mediARC allows users to enrich legacy essence with content-related information and store it inside a central repository, where it will remain for many years. This advancing technology is changing the way the issue of archival asset management is addressed in the future.
At present, more than 7,000 seats around the world rely on NOA mediARC to manage up to 2 million searchable metadata items and media objects per installation. These institutions include national archives and broadcasters in Sweden, Belgium, Mexico, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria and the United Arab Emirates.
NEW at IBC 2018 - NOA jobDB 4.1
The NOA jobDB 4.1 workflow system brings users increased efficiency and reduced labor costs among other benefits. Along with a classy new look and feel with even easier navigation and management than before, jobDB 4.1 features physical carrier handling with new tools, such as BarcodeStation and UniversalDialoguer. This means the system can manage up to 1000+ carriers in a single workflow each day, massively increasing efficiency and lowering labor costs.
The innovative new version also incorporates the control of video outgest workflows; a new NOA VideoPlayer for access to frame accurate positions and dedicated linked files; the ability to prioritise workflow settings to easily manage specific files; and a user management rework, which syncs via jobDB ProcessorHost toward an active Microsoft directory.
For users who are interested in scaling reports, jobDB 4.1 offers special browser report enhancements. Moreover, the upgrade provides advanced action logging so events are statistically collected; key controlled searches for workload organisation between different user groups; send email to easily notify users on status; as well as workflow pausing.
NEW at IBC 2018 - NOA QualityChecker
The newly upgraded NOA QualityChecker for jobDB and mediARC features useful functions, which enable an effective approach to industrial digitisation projects by combining validation, correction and editing of recorded material into one, single step within the overall workflow. Interaction between QualityChecker and MediaButler, NOA's transcoding application, has been optimised to efficiently transfer a set of tasks from the analog to the digital domain, thereby streamlining key processes in video digitisation projects.
New functions include the easy annotation of the current state of audio roles in QualityChecker, enabling MediaButler to shuffle and/or level-correct individual audio pairs of the recorded video during transcoding to the final file according to predefined processing rules.
Through precise timeline representations of luminance and chrominance levels of the recorded video, QualityChecker provides the possibility of comprehensive technical analysis of the entire content (instead of intellectual spot checking). Subsequently, an easy-to-use calibration dialogue enables quick and dependable correction of video levels for clients with needs for broadcast ready material. Segmentation allows multiple individual clips to be selected from a recording within QualityChecker and exported by MediaButler either as individual files or as virtual clips on a single recording during final transcoding.
At this year's IBC, an actual "hands-on" in-house digitisation factory will also be featured at NOA's stand.
The 2018 IBC Show takes place in RAI Amsterdam from 13-18 September.
