National Museum of Photography, Film & Television appoint new Head

Colin Philpott, the Head of BBC Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, is to become Head of the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television in Bradford in Spring 2004.
He will take over from Amanda Nevill, who left earlier this year to become Director of the British Film Institute.
Philpott, 47, has worked for the BBC for 23 years as a reporter, producer, editor and senior manager. He has worked on a range of news, current affairs and documentary programmes in television and radio, winning a number of industry accolades, including Sony Radio and Royal Television Society Awards.
Currently responsible for all the BBC’s services in Yorkshire, Philpott has been instrumental in a number of pioneering projects in the region, including the development of a new local television service for East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and a cutting edge broadband trial in Hull. Philpott has also overseen other BBC developments in the area, including the setting up of local websites and the building of several new BBC centres – including one inside the NMPFT in Bradford.
Philpott said: “I am very excited about joining the team at a highly successful Museum which already enjoys a national and international reputation and which plays a key role in the life of the City of Bradford and the wider Yorkshire region. There are exciting new developments in the pipeline and I am looking forward to helping NMPFT build on its current success. I have loved my time at the BBC but I’m really looking forward to this new challenge.”
