ITN ACCEPT 75 VOLUNTARY REDUNDANCIES

ITN have accepted 75 voluntary redundancy applications resulting from a new ITV contract.
Unions and ITN management met on December 12 and have issued the following joint statement:
ITN have accepted voluntary redundancy applications from 75 members of staff as part of their cost reduction programme. Managers and union representatives met earlier and agreed that the company would seek further volunteers in those few areas where cuts might still be needed. The discussions were constructive and it was agreed that a further meeting would take place on December 20 to review progress. Both sides are optimistic that the necessary savings can be achieved through voluntary means.
The call for redundancies follows a new contract to provide news programmes for ITV at £11 million less than the previous contract. (CD)
