LPC post 'A Japanese Christmas Cracker' for Challenge TV
LPC have collaborated with production company One More Production to postproduce 'A Japanese Christmas Cracker', a series of 14 six-hour evenings for Flextech’s Challenge TV.
The programmes include shows that invite crazy contestants to perform a series of hideous tasks such as eating monkey brains and having cannonballs fired at their backsides. They will air on satellite and cable television every night over two weeks from December 2003 22.
A Japanese Christmas Cracker premieres the studio-based show, Extreme Endurance, which features two Japanese comedians as knowledgeable pundits commentating on a series of extreme clips.
Producer Ben Mole of One More Productions said one of the hardest challenges was to manage the vast volumes of material needed for the show. He said: “As each show lasts for six hours, this has been a mammoth undertaking. The whole project has taken about two months to complete in post, as we’ve had to blend massive amounts of clips and archive with brand-new rushes to create the strong Japanese visual identity for the show that we wanted.”
All of the post-production was carried out at LPC. Due to the tight Christmas deadline and the sheer volume of material, at times the production had the whole editorial team working simultaneously across LPC’s off-line and on-line editing suites.
The Avid off-line and linear on-line work was carried out by lead editors Michael Lewis, Eoin Martin, Tim Clayton and Val Lee. Lead graphics artist, Simon Harris, created the graphics elements for the titles sequence in 3D and on After Effects.
LPC Client Manager, Julie Davis, managed all the post-production.
