Channel 4 Welcomes 'The Wedding Shop'

News Image
Channel 4 has commissioned a new series, The Wedding Shop (w/t), which will follow Ian Stuart, the award-winning bridal and occasion wear designer, and the visitors to his lavish 18th century bridal boutique.

Visited by some of the most exacting brides, socialites and celebrities, the Grade One listed, central London destination is a hotspot for the rich and famous, known for iconic and exclusive dress and wedding dress designs.

The 25x30' series will offer a glimpse into the glamourous world of Ian's clientele, his famously flamboyant designs with staggering price tags, and the often emotional discussions and decisions that are made when choosing a piece.

From those attending their very first awards ceremony or in search of a perfect gala gown for the social event of the year, each VIP will visit the shop with their own entourage of mothers, bridesmaids and best friends who bring their own set of hopes, expectations and vocal opinions.

Accompanying Ian throughout the series are his team; style advisor Charlotte, celebrity florist Jens and Craig, Ian's trainee dresser.

The series has been commissioned for Channel 4 by Commissioning Editor, Formats, Lee McMurrary and Head of Formats, Dom Bird. The Executive Producers for Nineteen11 are Joanne Inglott and Brian Hayes.

Lee McMurray, Commissioning Editor, Formats, said: "This series will be a fantastic treat for Channel 4 viewers who'll get to enjoy all the glamour and opulence of high-end fashion, share the tears and tantrums of brides picking out the perfect wedding dress, and spend time in the hugely enjoyable company of the eccentric, entertaining cast of characters who man the floor in the boutique."

Brian Hayes, joint CEO, Nineteen11, added: "We look forward to bringing these fantastic characters to a wider audience in a fun and visually stunning way. This series will be a unique look at the wonderful world that Ian Stuart and his team inhabit. Viewers will be treated to a peek behind the curtain of couture, and we're sure they'll love what they see, and have a few laughs along the way."
