Ian Sands Wins BAFTA For Gospel Sound

Production sound mixer Ian Sands is celebrating after scooping the Best Sound BAFTA Cymru award for his work on the 2012 film 'The Gospel of Us', starring Michael Sheen.
Together with dubbing mixer Dai Shell, Sands accepted the award for the pair's work on Dave McKean's contemporary re-telling of the Passion story, the big screen adaptation of the National Theatre of Wales Easter performance in Port Talbot.
The trophy was presented at the ceremony in the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff on 29 September.
In a career spanning 35 years of sound recording and mixing, Sands has a host of TV and Film credits to his name including 'The Bourne Ultimatum' and, more recently, Tim Burton's 'Dark Shadows', with the latest for release this month; Stephen Sondheim's musical 'Merrily We Roll Along'.
"I have worked on many films and TV shows but this project was certainly a challenge," says Sands.
"This fantastic award is recognition of the hard work and effort put into ensuring the film sound track had all the necessary ingredients and impact to accompany the vision of the Director. A big thank you to BAFTA Cymru."
The production sound team also included Dubbing Mixer and Ian's second, Emyr Morris, minstrel recordists Jules Davies, Dafydd Pierce and Nick Stewart. Post production was undertaken by Dia Shell and Ellie Russell.
