Plans Approved For New Bentwaters Studios

Screen Suffolk has welcomed the announcement that a planning application for the new Bentwaters Studios in Suffolk has been approved.

On its website, Bentwaters Parks said it has plans for a state-of-the-art purpose-built, 40,000 sq ft sound stage featuring sustainable green technology.

The former military airbase in Suffolk is already used as a location for film and TV production, but it is understood this is part of a multi-million pound redevelopment over 12 acres which also includes the conversion of some current buildings, plus the construction of a studio backlot.

A spokesperson for Screen Suffolk said: "We are delighted here at Screen Suffolk that the planning application for the new Bentwaters Studio has been approved. Screen Suffolk fully endorsed the proposal and we're very excited about what this means for the county.

"We should see a steep upturn in the amount of filming that comes to the county and we'll be working closely with Bentwaters Parks as their vision is realised. This development will certainly enhance Screen Suffolk's pledge of making Suffolk the most film friendly county in the UK. The studios will attract big budget feature films who will then use the other locations that Screen Suffolk has to offer.
