RTS Wales Appoints Judith Winnan As New Chair

News Image
The Royal Television Society Wales Centre has announced the appointment of Judith Winnan as their new Chair.

She will take up the post with immediate effect and replaces Tim Hartley, who will remain a committee member, having reached the end of his term.

Winnan's career in the television industry spans 27 years and has been divided between the BBC and the independent sector in Wales. A programme-maker for many years, she has produced award-winning documentaries, worked in commissioning and run her own independent production company.

More recently, as Head of Factual and Music at BBC Wales, she headed-up a large production department delivering programmes for network and local audiences. She is now a freelance executive producer based in Cardiff.

Of his time leading RTS Wales, Hartley said: "RTS Wales has seen considerable growth over the years. Our work showcases the very best in our thriving production sector and we have forged productive partnerships with colleges, festivals, the broadcasters and indies. As we continue to move forward I look forward to working with Judith who I am sure will be an excellent Chair."

Speaking of her appointment Winnan adds: "Under the guidance of Tim Hartley, RTS Wales has developed a programme of must-see events which celebrate, showcase and support the production community in Wales. I'm honoured to be Chair and look forward to continuing this work, alongside the committee."
