Caitlin Thomas film raring to go

Salem Films have begun scouting locations for their up-coming film based on the life of Caitlin Thomas, widow of the poet Dylan Thomas.
'Caitlin', by first-time screenwriter Jeff Murphy, has been developed with the proceeds of the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Wales and Sgrîn Cymru Wales, the media agency for Wales.
Producer Ynyr Williams said: “We are in a “go” situation at present and I have been having preliminary discussions with The Wales Screen Commission concerning locations in West Wales. This is a film out of Wales, about Wales and will be shot mainly in Wales.”
Mr Williams is confident about the project and he has good reason to be. He has already attracted great Welsh talent to the production and has raised a sizable chunk of the total budget from various financiers and bodies in Wales.
He said: “We are very fortunate to have Marc Evans ('My Little Eye', 'Beautiful Mistake', 'Resurrection Man', 'House of America') attached as director and Michael Sheen from Port Talbot on board to play Dylan Thomas. If anybody should play Dylan – then it must be Michael. He is well up for it!
"Jeff Murphy is a great writer and even though this is his first feature project he is making a huge name for himself within the screenwriting world. He is certainly a name to watch.”
BBC Wales have already invested in the project along with The Arts Council of Wales and Sgrîn Cymru Wales. “We are so pleased to have been involved with this project for the last couple of years,” said Judith Higginbottom, Head of Production at Sgrîn. “We have backed the film from the very beginning and are really pleased that we have a script of such quality involved with this kind of subject matter. The story of Caitlin and Dylan is such a well-known one in Wales and we wanted to ensure that whichever script we supported that had to be of the highest order. It is certainly the case here.”
