PROVYS: Always The Gold Standard In Broadcast Management

News Image
It goes without saying that every broadcaster in the world has to ensure the smooth and efficient control of complex workflows, this being a non-negotiable requirement of any broadcast management system according to recent research undertaken within the broadcasting industry.

The best broadcast management solutions offer comprehensive, yet flexible management tools for broadcasters who realise the value of efficiency in the complex world of television programming, production, advertisement sales, rights management, playout preparation and market share statistics.

Not only is such a back office solution invaluable to experienced broadcasters with well-trained personnel, but these systems are expected to be intuitive and automated so that newcomers can jump straight in and operate their particular workflow from early on. This automation should be so sophisticated that users could depend upon GRP-based auto-insertion of self-promos at all appropriate times in the schedule, which is then also automatically checked by the system for any errors before playout. These systems ensure that professional users will be fully satisfied and new users, including new broadcasters, will be immediately comfortable with the system and will be able to grow along with their ambitions.

In addition to all these features, typical for standard linear broadcasting, modern solutions are beginning to offer a complete set of VOD (Video-On-Demand) features fully satisfying broadcasters wishing to operate different programme offers on line. The best systems, such as Provys, can meet these requirements, but, putting our hands on our hearts, we have to admit that VOD is not the best thing since sliced bread in terms of generating revenue streams comparable with traditional TV advertising incomes.

The future will certainly look different but we are anticipating a medium term perspective, say ten to twenty years, before VOD or web-based TV revenues start to challenge commercial TV earnings. To meet the demands of this period, Provys have created the gold standard portfolio of advertisement sales functions which will satisfy the requirements of even the most hungry broadcast finance directors. Together with the analytical tools which provide data concerning viewers' behaviour, the advertisement sales module enhances the effectiveness of ad scheduling, slot allocation, product placement, even auctions of prime time ad slots and on-line slot reservations, etc.

Naturally, many of these functions are also invaluable for self-promotion which is so crucial in maintaining high viewing figures. These features, as well as being very important for large established TV stations, are also of critical importance to smaller broadcasters who can benefit from the considerable experience of the specialised software developers who have harvested their knowledge from the big boys.

"There are many interesting features that make Provys stand out including the very wide range of functionalities, and interfaces, all of which can be connected to seamlessly integrate with any of today's world standard systems. We have implemented a complete promotional workflow and many features of our system are available for handheld devices through the web," says Karel Votroubek, Commercial Director at Provys.

A few precious moments reflection on these state-of-the-art characteristics of the Provys solution will serve to remind the reader exactly why Provys sets the Gold Standard today for the broadcasting industry.
