Framestore CFC honoured by RTS
Framestore CFC have received recognition for the second successive year at the annual Royal Television Society Craft & Design Awards.
At the ceremony, hosted on November 17 by Carol Smillie and held at London's Grosvenor House, the company won the Visual Effects – Digital Effects Award for their work on the two 'Walking With Dinosaurs' specials 'The Giant Claw' and 'Land of Giants'.
The award was accepted on behalf of Framestore CFC by 'Dinosaurs' team members Tim Greenwood, Darren Byford, George Roper and Sarah Tosh. Also present at the ceremony was Mike Milne, the company's Head of CG, who said afterwards: "I'm delighted, of course. This is a team that has matured together and are now at the top of their game, actively seeking out new challenges."
Three new 'Walking With Dinosaurs' specials are currently airing on BBC One on Sundays at 7.00pm. Produced once more by Impossible Pictures, with a host of new prehistoric creatures created by Framestore CFC, the first show of the new 'Sea Monsters' trilogy reached some 7.5 million viewers.
The RTS award comes near the end of a year that has already seen Framestore CFC notch up several major prizes for their television and commercials work, including an Emmy, a BAFTA, a D&AD award and a Cannes Lion - an unparalleled track record for a UK effects house.
