Channel 4 Green Lights Winnie The Pooh Documentary

News Image
Channel 4 has announced a one-off documentary to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Winnie the Pooh, the first collection of Pooh Bear stories.

Written by A A Milne for his son, Christopher Robin, the tales are set in the Hundred Acre Wood and involve adventure and friendship of Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga and their friends.

The documentary sees Alan Titchmarsh explore the history and locations that inspired Milne's poems and stories as well as E H Shepard's illustrations. Through interviews with Ann Thwaite, Milne's biographer, children's author Brian Sibley, social historian Hester Barron and journalist Matthew Sweet, Alan celebrates Winnie the Pooh in his 90th year and the legacy he left behind.

Winnie-the-Pooh: The Most Famous Bear in the World (1x60') will air on New Year's Eve on Channel 4. The programme is commissioned by Lizi Wootton, Commissioning Editor, Features. It is made by Glasgow-based production company Finestripe Productions under Executive Producer Katie Lander, and is produced and directed by Andy Humphries.
