Welcome Launch For SpaceCrate

Former Avid pro audio sales manager Ben Nemes has teamed up with Absolute CAD owner Mike Watson and AKA Design chief Guy Wilson to launch SpaceCrate.

SpaceCrate is a purpose designed high end creative space, housed within an ISO-Standard 20 foot shipping container to enable productions, post businesses and individuals to expand or relocate capacity to accommodate peaks in demand and specific location needs.

Being a standard shipping container on the outside, SpaceCrate can be transported and depot-stored easily and cost-effectively. This enables deployment on either a permanent or temporary basis almost anywhere in the world using existing transport infrastructure.

Each shipping container will be sold ready-to-use; modified to provide sound isolation and studio-grade acoustic performance, equipped with air conditioning and lighting and wired for power and equipment.

The involvement of AKA design ensures a level of interior fit and finish consistent with the top end of post houses and studios.

Suggested uses include location editing, dubbing suites, on-set ADR, dailies screening or home recording studios.

Technical Director Mike Watson commented: "Every aspect of the economics of content creation has been, or is being, rethought and made available on-demand and as-a-service where possible. We're taking some of the biggest considerations – specialist premises needs, capacity and geography – and rethinking those."
