London company to update SBC music facility

THE Swedish Broadcasting Corporation have selected a London-based consultancy to acoustically redesign their music control room.
Munro Associates have been contracted to acoustically re-design SBC's K7 music control room which had not been updated since the early 1970s.
Munro Associate’s sister company, Form & Funktion, will handle the installation, which will incorporate acoustic panels manufactured in the UK and shipped to Malmo for final assembly.
The K7 control room, which is linked to a 300 square metre studio, is used for broadcasting radio programmes with live audiences and for music recording.
Once the upgrade has been completed, the facility will be capable of handling 5.1 projects and will also feature the latest equipment, including a new console.
Andy Munro, head of Munro Associates, said: "This is an exciting project as the studio will be used for all types of jazz and classical music. Acoustically the control room will be set up for full 5.1 mixing and mastering and I can’t wait to hear the ‘real sound’ of the large studio in surround format." (GMcG)
