RTS Launches Television Journalism Awards 2017
The Royal Television Society (RTS) has launched the Television Journalism Awards 2017.
A total of 19 categories will make up the ceremony this year which is due to be held at the London Hilton, Park Lane on Wednesday, 01 March 2017.
The awards, which will be given for both news and current affairs, seek to recognise creative and excellent journalism by organisations whose broadcasts are transmitted on a UK based platform or who create online video content from a UK production base.
Stewart Purvis, CBE and Chair of the Awards said: "After the exceptional news events so far in 2016 and the high quality coverage by broadcasters in the UK it is clear that the competition for the RTS Television Journalism Awards is going to be tougher than ever at the end of the year. The Awards celebrate the hard work, dedication and extraordinary breadth of talent in news and current affairs reporting."
The categories include:
• News Coverage – Home
• News Coverage – International
• Daily News Programme of the Year
• News Channel of the Year
• Breaking News
• News Technology
• Current Affairs – Home
• Current Affairs – International
• Nations and Regions News
• Nations and Regions Current Affairs
• Regional Presenter of the Year
• Scoop of the Year
• Specialist Journalist of the Year
• Young Talent of the Year
• Television Journalist of the Year
• Camera Operator of the Year
• Network Presenter of the Year
• The Independent Award
• Interview of the Year
A Judges' Award is given out at the discretion of the jury and is presented to an individual (on or off screen) or a production team in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the advancement of Television Journalism.
All entries must be submitted using the RTS Online Awards Entry System https://awardsentry.rts.org.uk and must have been first transmitted on any platform in the UK or been made available through a website between 16 November 2015 and 15 November 2016.
The closing date for entries is Friday, 02 December 2016.
