Custom Consoles Selected For Telegraph Media Project

News Image
A Module-R desk and Media Wall monitor support frame from Custom Consoles has been selected by SI Multilink Broadcast as part of an installation at the Telegraph Media Group's HQ in London.

The control room and studio are used for realtime content gathering and distribution for various divisions within the group. They are also available for use by third-party clients.

Dean McNally, Managing Director, Multilink Broadcast, said: "Module-R provided the basis from which we were able to specify exactly the combination of features required for the control desk. This is a 3.2 metre wide in-line design supported by a 14U high pod on the left and right sides. The centre span is four bays wide with storage space for addition equipment below the desktop. Four 3U high sloping pods for auxiliary equipment occupy the desktop rear, plus a 6U desktop pod on the right.

"The centre-left bay is fitted with a 19 inch liyama touch-screen monitor on an Ergotron operator-adjustable arm. Additional computer monitors are attached in the same way at top left and top right. A rear-sloping anodised aluminium leg provides additional support at the centre of the desk bridge. Module-R is very popular with our customers, for its stability and styling as well as its excellent ergonomics. It also provides easy front and rear access to equipment and wiring during initial installation and routine maintenance."

He continued: "Media Wall gave us a similar degree of freedom to configure a support structure for the control room's picture and sound monitors. The Media Wall in this case is 2.2 metres wide, 1.8 metres high and half a metre front-to-back. Located directly in front of the desk, it supports two 42 inch LCD screens plus a 24 inch display for the studio clock. Passive near-field loudspeakers are mounted at left and right."

A mix-and-matchable control room furniture system, the Custom Consoles Module-R range allows desks to be configured to meet specific shapes and dimensions from a selection of high-quality pods, base sections, 19 inch rack housings, worktops, end-panel modules and legs. Coordinated desk pods are available as single-bay sections with up 10U chassis capacity.

Media Wall enables flat-screen monitor displays of practically any width to be constructed from standard horizontal and vertical support elements. Media Wall can be used as a fully self-supporting structure or coupled directly to the studio wall. Individual screens can be positioned so that their edges meet exactly to form a continuous horizontal display limited only by the boundary of the monitor panel itself. All wiring is fully concealed and can enter or leave the structure at any desired point.
