Harris and TRT pioneer digital audio broadcasting in Turkey
Turkish Radio Television Corporation (TRT), Turkey's public television broadcaster, has chosen Harris Corporation's Broadcast Communications Division for the second phase of TRT's launch into Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB).
Harris will provide headend products for two audio programs, data insertion, IP insertion and one 100W Harris DAB 665 transmitter. These products will be installed in Istanbul and will be set up for future single-frequency network (SFN) operations.
"By selecting Harris' IP datacasting solution (D-IPTUS), TRT is ready to develop new services based on IP, one of the more powerful and attractive multimedia features of DAB," said Alain Untersee, director of product management and marketing, Harris. "We are very pleased that TRT again chose Harris to provide its second system. Our ability to deliver and support end-to-end solutions, including headend and transmitter equipment, was a key factor in TRT's decision."
