RTE to show all Six Nations ties live

RTÉ are to continue their coverage of this year’s phenomenal rugby season by screening the entire Six Nations tournament on Network 2 this spring.
The coverage, which will be sponsored by the Irish Examiner, begins on February 15 with Italy v Wales and England v France. Ireland’s competition gets underway the following day with a clash against Scotland in Murrayfield.
Every try, every pass and every kick of a ball will be screened by the Irish national broadcaster, as Europe’s rugby-playing nations attempt to assert their authority ahead of the World Cup in Australia later this year.
Anchoring RTÉ’s coverage of the Six Nations is Tom McGurk, who’ll be joined as always by the dynamic duo of opinion and reason, George Hook and Brent Pope.
In addition to the live coverage, there’ll be classic rugby screened on the Friday nights before Six Nations weekends in The Sports Files, beginning on February 14 with Scotland v Ireland from 1985.
The Six Nations makes up just one element of RTÉ’s rugby coverage this season, with the final stages of the Heineken Cup still to come, and the magazine programme Against the Head currently airing every Monday evening.
