Update 4.0 Makes Comrex Codecs Better
Comrex codecs have always been moving forward, this is evident due to the fact they have been the industry standard in the broadcast industry for years. It is common to hear or read about the progressive updates that have been rolling out on a consistent basis with no signs of slowing down.
With v4.0, Access and BRIC-Link codecs are taking their capabilities a step further and blowing IP connectivity out of the water. No need for dedicated hardware for bonding network connections or to monitor connectivity at the lowest level using state of the art solutions. All of this is now achievable from a single Comrex unit thanks to running v4.0 and all thanks to the introduction of Crosslock VPN. Any number of network connections can be used on the Access, and the USB port on the rear of the latest BRIC-Link II audio codec can be used for additional connectivity. Real-time monitoring and configuration allows no interruption of your broadcast while keeping bandwidth and redundancy in check. With Update 4.0 you get all the connectivity information you need and brings increased stability, reliability and redundancy.
Crosslock is the juice that powers the new network features arriving with 4.0, a separate connection between your units keeps a close eye on your traffic and brings out the best out of your currently available connections. Swapping in new connections whilst replacing old ones with no interruptions is now possible and intelligent bandwidth/latency control is all calculated by Crosslock. If you lose a connection, Crosslock simply allocates the necessary bandwidth the other available connections and redundancy mode makes sure all required data is sent down all your network devices. Intelligent network management also prevents slow or unstable network devices from dragging other connections down. You can also take control during your transmission, a slider has been introduced to change target latency and statistical feedback lets you decide which connections you want your units to depend on.
There is plenty more that the update brings, the Traversal Server (now officially named Switchboard) has had some tweaks, which includes the ability to place your individual codecs into groups for ease of access to the devices you regularly connect to. Network locations registered to your USB modems/WiFi sticks are now stored and configurable at any time for quick connections when at different locations. No more need to set up your WiFi credentials every time you change access point and no need to register a new SIM card when time is running out before your next broadcast. Update 4.0 for Access will register your SIM and get you connected to the internet without any user input beyond plugging in your dongle.
For those with only one 3G/4G network at your disposal, the new high gain Comrex Connect Modem is the ideal solution for getting a strong signal in not so receptive areas. Each device comes in a ruggedized, industrial case with a carrier-certified, high gain antenna (2.1dBi) and sturdy, customised mounting bracket for either your LiveShot IP Video Codec or Access 2USB codec. Comrex Connect for Access is designed to be mounted on the back of the Access Portable unit and connects via USB. Comrex Connect supports all 3G/4G LTE internet providers in the UK and is designed to be operational in some of the harshest conditions.
