British-backed film to break 30-year ban in India

A British-backed movie could be the first Pakistani film to be officially released in India for almost 30 years.
'Larki Punjaban' ('Punjabi Girl') is currently shooting in Pakistan but will be moving to film at locations in Manchester and Scotland in March as part of a four-week British filming schedule.
In the past, film projects generated in Pakistan and India are generally placed under a mutually-held ban which dates back to the end of the last Indian and Pakistani war. However, as a substantial portion of the film production is based in Britain the distributors are hopeful that the film can make it into India cinemas.
Thirty per cent of the in Pakistan has already been done and the film crew will arrive in the UK on March 15. The precise locations are currently being decided.
The controversial love story, produced by Yorkshire-based company Paragon Pictures, is directed by one of the most prominent directors in Pakistan Syed Noor. It also stars Saima - one of Pakistan's most well-known actresses.
