dB Broadcast Adds To Cardinal MDU Range

News Image
dB Broadcast will introduce a number of new additions to its Cardinal range of Mains Distribution Units (MDUs) at BVE 2016.

The products are optimised for applications where the full feature set of high end 'intelligent' MDUs is not required, and will provide customers with a more cost effective option for mains distribution within equipment bays.

The additions are based on two new base products – the MDU and the eMDU. Alongside these, the company will continue to supply the Cardinal iMDU (intelligent MDU).

The Cardinal MDU provides a cost-effective entry level product providing 12 individually-fused IEC outlets, with options for either a single 16A input or a changeover version with dual 16A inputs, in a 1RU package. An optional meter is available to monitor the current drawn by the connected equipment.

The introduction of the Cardinal MDU enables users to benefit from the build quality and reliability of the Cardinal range at a lower price point than before, and is therefore ideal for applications where remote control and monitoring are not required.

The Cardinal eMDU (enhanced MDU) augments the basic MDU product functionality with the inclusion of user configurable sequential output switching, current monitoring with a user definable alarm, and an interface for connection to a dB Broadcast Cardinal iMDU (intelligent MDU), enabling remote status monitoring and control. Sequential start up protects mains infrastructure by avoiding an excessive current surge when an equipment rack is first powered up. Current monitoring provides operators with the information necessary to manage equipment power consumption, and to identify failing equipment before their end customers are impacted. By combining one or more Cardinal eMDU units with a Cardinal iMDU, broadcasters can enable multiple mains distribution units to be monitored and controlled remotely over a network using a single Ethernet connection and IP address.

Tom Swan, Sales and Marketing Director at dB Broadcast, said: "We have listened to customer feedback and responded with the introduction of these new MDU products, offering our customers a choice of MDU solutions to suit their application, from a basic MDU, an enhanced MDU, through to our established flagship of the range, the Cardinal intelligent MDU."

dB is now taking enquiries for the new range of Cardinal MDUs, and will be at BVE 2016, Stand F40.
